An Attempted Robbery Met with Love

Yahoo! News offered an interesting article today: Attempted Robbery Ends in Group Hug.

Late at night last month, a family was finishing dinner when "a hooded man slid through an open gate and pointed a handgun at the head of a 14-year-old girl. 'Give me your money, or I'll start shooting,' he said".

What would your response be in that situation? Would you think to offer the man a drink and something to eat? "We were just finishing dinner... Why don't you have a glass of wine with us," was the response of one of the diners.

John writes that "there is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear." (1 John 4:18) There were two basic things that could have been given to that man holding the gun - not money or wine, but fear or love. The woman offered love to another human being, just another part of the Body, albeit one more ailing, perhaps, than she.
