I got an interesting offer from the catholic.org book search:
I had to give that a second look; I didn't realize the Bible was still open for additions. The Gospel of Joe definately has a nice ring to it.
The unintentionally-funny wording - which, of course, came from searching in the "Bible" category - set me thinking. Don't many of us wish we could click that link and really do what it suggests - add our book to the Bible? If only I could change or add that one thing, then I'd be really happy...
We have to remember St. Augustine's words: "If you believe what you like in the gospels, and reject what you don't like, it is not the gospel you believe, but yourself."
We can turn away when we see something we don't like, as Judas Iscariot did, or we can accept God's will over our own, like Mary. God's law is not about making us happy and comfortable, it is about making us holy.
