On the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul

Today is the Feast of the Conversion of Saint Paul.

Paul introduced much of the world to Christ. He introduces us to Christ during his conversion. When God calls Paul out, it is with the question "Why do you persecute Me?" Paul wasn't asked why he persecuted the Church but why he persecuted God.

God is the Church. Think that question Paul was asked over until it startles you. It certainly startled Paul!

Paul got the point of that question. He would later refer to the Church as the Body of Christ.

It's appropriate, too, to hear from Mark in the Gospel reading (Mk 16:15-18) as Mark had accompanied Paul on some of his journeys. (Kreeft 2005, 189) We are called to "go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel", each one of us. If we are members of the Church, then we are parts of the Body of Christ. We are His feet to walk through the world. We are His hands to carrying out good works. We are His lips to spread the Good News.
