Hope for Heaven

We are getting closer and closer to Easter. Can you feel it?

Is there something more than spring starting to appear - that cool, fresh nip in the air? Is there something more than scheduling a trip to see the Easter bunny and hunt for eggs? Is there more than just a feeling that something is coming?

A baby feels hunger; well, there is such a thing as food. A dolphin wants to swim; well, there is such a thing as water. Men feel sexual desire; well, there is such a thing as sex. If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world. (Mere Christianity, Bk. III, chap. 10, "Hope")
There is someone coming to bring us home, to bring us into Himself. One journey to Easter ends and the journey to Heaven continues. If we're very honest with ourselves and take the time to be still and think about it, I believe we can all feel that longing that C. S. Lewis described. We long for something we cannot have in this world, because we're made for another. We're homesick and the road to Easter is part of our journey home.
